time has run away again and I've put on running shoes to catch up!
Although the blog has been quiet the last month or so I've been very busy, which is great!
The first thing to report on is the mural at the Balga Detached Youth House which was done in conjuction with the young men that take part in the programs there. Under the watchful eye and guidance of artist Toogarr Morrison, we completed the mural which details skin groups information culturally relevant to the Bibbullmen nation.

It was a big project due to the nature of the materials we were working with ( from cutting the individual small tiles to applying sections of the images to the wall), it was a wonderful learning opportunity and I'm really grateful I had the opportunity to be involved.
I've also been preparing for a couple of competitions that are coming up, deciding which to enter and what peices to dedicate to each one. I plan on having two pieces at the Belmont Competition which will be exhibited at the Belmont Shopping Centre from the 8th - 20th of August. I'll also be showing one of my favorite pieces at the City of Melville art awards which will go on show from 28th May til the 4th June.
Finally I'm really excited to be putting in 3 pieces to the Noongar country art awards that are opening in Bunbury from 21st May and closing on 10th July. I am entering two of my smaller oil landscapes and a larger work that is created specifically for the show. It's been a challenging peice for me so far with many hours sketching and debating with myself perspective, but I am happy with how it is progressing and am very excited to be showing it.
And, with every spare creative moment I get, I am in the studio quietly working away at my body of works that I hope to show collectively with the work of Toogarr Morrison. The body is growing and I'm feeling confident that when viewed together, it will provide people with an understanding of my cultural and spiritual perspective of synesthesia, and my understanding of how it connects me spiritually with the rich culture of the community in which I live.
Here is a sneak peak of a larger peice I am working on.

hope those in WA are enjoying the beautiful sun showers!
